“What to Know When Choosing a Model for Dermal Research”
Presented by Dr. Jeffrey Klein, PhD, DABT
Wednesday, November 20, 2019
Session #2: 8:00am-8:55am
The minipig is considered to be the best animal model to understand drug effects in human skin. The Hanford and Göttingen minipigs have been used for accepted regulatory submissions. Sinclair Research is developing a white Sinclair lineage, which may provide another alternative when choosing a model for dermal research.
Participants in this program will learn about the use of minipigs for development of dermal products. Differences between lineages of minipigs will be discussed, including the pros and cons of each lineage. In addition, Sinclair will present recent results comparing irritation, clinical pathology, and histopathology from different minipigs.
