Normal Organ Weight Data for the Yucatan Miniature Swine

Swine have been used extensively in research because of correlated similarities to humans. Miniature swine offer many distinct advantages for researchers but reference normal data is sometimes lacking for miniswine. In an effort to generate a database on baseline information for Yucatan miniature swine, we are reporting quality controlled organ weight data from naïve juvenile (~1 month) Standard Yucatan miniature swine of both genders. Absolute organ weights (g), relative organ to body weight ratios, and relative organ to brain weight ratios (%) are offered. Number of animals per gender (N), Mean, Standard Deviation, and Range for each parameter are presented in Tabular form. Weight data on brain, adrenals, epididymis, heart, kidneys, liver, lungs, ovary, pituitary, prostate, seminal vesicles, spleen, testis, thymus, thyroids w/parathyroid, body weight and the appropriate relative ratios are presented for this category of Yucatan.
